Overview 

Purpose 

This document describes additional functionality included in release-1.9.8 of Cora PPM. 

This document contains descriptions of development in progress. 

 

Scope 

The scope of this document is the functionality released with each new version of Cora PPM.  It does not, therefore, contain references to: 

Customer specific ‘custom’ functionality 

Customers requiring information on base product functionality relating to versions prior to this release should refer to the Release Notes for those versions. 

Project Execution  

Freeze Periods at Project Level 

Overview 

Ability to enable and set planning block Freeze Period at the project level.  Setting the Freeze Period on a project can be used in the baseline change control process. The History and Planning phases can also be calculated off the Freeze Period and do not need to be set on the project. 

Admin & Project Properties  

To enable the functionality the new checkbox needs to be selected under Admin | System | Project. By default, this setting is unselected. 

 

When enabled, 2 required dropdown fields are displayed on the Project properties page 

  1. PM Technique. Values: Earned Value, EV Light, No EV. Default No EV 

  1. Freeze Period. Values: NA, Time Now, Time Now +1, Time Now +2, Time Now +3. Default NA 

 

Gantt Updates 

A pink bar is displayed on the Gantt on the timeline graph to indicate the Freeze Period. On hover over the user will see the start and end dates of the freeze period 

 

The Freeze period runs from the start of the fiscal period using the Status date to the end of the period set in the Freeze Period on the project properties

Example: 

Status date is set to 23 Sep 2024. The start of the fiscal period that the status date is in is 24 Aug 2024. The Freeze period is set to Time Now +3 on the project properties, make the end date 31 Dec 2024.

Project Variables 

Fields can be displayed on Smartform pages by creating field of type Date/Text Function 

         

The project variables are also available to be added as Workflow Variables 

 


Workflow Enhancements  

Description of Change  

Workflow Update – Perform a Full Recalculation After Assignment 

Previously, every single update step within a workflow would trigger a full recalculation of the project data.  In most cases this was unnecessary but it also meant that workflows that contained multiple update steps could take longer than necessary after submission to return control to the user. 

A new option has been added to the update step to enable full recalculation after assignment.  By default, this is unchecked.  When configuring a workflow, only check this box if a recalc is required.  Typically, in a long chain of updates, you will only enable this box on the last update in the chain. 

To avoid impacting any existing workflows, this box is checked on any existing workflows.  You should consider reviewing any existing workflows to see if turning off this option on one or more steps improves the performance of the workflow. 

Variable Definition – Source Dropdown 

The variable selector for the source field in the variables element of workflow, is now more performant and typing a value will automatically filter the list. 


Scheduling – Task Type MSP Import  

Overview 

The current MSP import functionality has been expanded to include the ability to map Custom MSP field to Cora system Task Type field. 

MSP Import 

Task Type is used as a Custom field in MSP and populated with relevant data. 

 

Cora Updates  

On using the MSP functionality, Custom Fields has been relabelled to Field Mapping to cater for the inclusion of mapping to Cora system fields. 

 

Mapping 

The Cora Field dropdown now has 2 sections, Systems Fields and Custom Fields. The 2 sections were split so users can easily identify system and custom fields and prevent the need for additional scrolling.

Import Validation  

After clicking Import, if there are any invalid records, they will be listed in the mapping Issues section. Click the hyperlink to open 

 

Any records that do not have a matching value in Cora will be listed. 

                         

These are for information only, records will be written to the Cora Schedule 

 

Scheduling – Free Slack Field and Calculation  

Description of Change  

A new column will be added to the Gantt view of the schedule to display the calculated Free Slack for each task. Free Slack is the amount of time a task can be delayed without affecting the start of its immediate successor or the project deadline (if no successor exists) 

Functionality  

  • Field Label: Free Slack 

  • Field Type: Calculation 

  • Formula: Free Slack = Early Start (ES) of Next Task − Early Finish (EF) of Current Task 

  • Location: Gantt view, visible for each task in the project schedule. 

 

Customer Specific Tags in Page Headers  

Description of Change  

It is now possible top include a custom tag in PPM page headers.  This option is intended for customers who use third party software to track application usage. 

To include a custom tag in the page header, go to Admin | System | General | Login/Logout and enter the tag into the ‘Include Tag in Page Headers’ field. 

In the majority of cases, this field should be left blank. 


Scheduling – Task Type Based Schedule Logic  

Overview 

Task Type definition which facilitates schedule logic rules in accordance with National Defence Industrial Association (NDIA) Planning & Scheduling Excellence Guide (PASEG). 

Admin Updates  

To enable Task Types, the Enable Task Type checkbox needs to be selected on Admin | System | Task. 

The Task Type grid is displayed under Admin | System | Task -> Task Type tab. The grid will display regardless of the setting above as customers will want to set up and validate the values before switching it on. This is a standard grid with the following columns 

  • Description. This is a required text field 

  • Abbreviation. This is a required text field 

  • Editable Task Type. This is a new optional checkbox. Default is blank 

  • Resourcing Restrictions. This is a new optional checkbox. Default is blank 

  • If selected a new textbox is displayed below. This will be used for warning message later on the Gantt 

  • The field label is 'Resourcing Restrictions - warning message' 

  • If displayed the field is required 

  • Is Milestone. This is a new optional checkbox. Default is blank 

  • If selected a new textbox is displayed below. This will be used for warning message later on the Gantt 

  • The field label is 'Milestone Duration - warning message' 

  • If displayed the field is required 

  • Archived. This is an optional checkbox. Default is blank.  

  

The grid will be prepopulated with the following records 

 

Gantt Updates 

The Task Type is displayed on the Task Manager in the Detailed section displaying records that are not Archived. Task Type can be added to the task list and is also available in filtering and the restore functionality. 

Task Update Logic 

  • If a Task Type with Editable Task is set to Yes no update restrictions are applied 

  • If a Task Type with Editable Task is set to No the following restrictions are applied 

  • Task Name is editable 

  • Task Type is editable 

  • No other detail section fields are editable 

  • The updates are restricted on: 

  • Task Manager sections 

  • The Gantt Grid 

  • The Gantt Chart 

  • Task Updates page 

  • Statusing page 

  

Resourcing Restrictions 

If the Task Type has Resourcing Restrictions set to Yes, on adding a resource to the Task the user gets the warning message from 'Resourcing Restriction - warning message' set on the Admin side. This covers all resource Types (Skills, Users, Teams, Materials and Facilities). Warnings are displayed on both Task Manager and Task Updates pages. 

The warning message will appear in the top right corner, sample below. 

 

Note: The update is still captured, these are just warning messages 

  

Is Milestone  

If Task Type is tagged as Is Milestone, on changing duration <>0 days, the user also gets the warning message from 'Milestone Duration - warning message' set on the Admin side. Warnings are displayed on both Task Manager and Task Updates pages. 

The warning message will appear in the top right corner, sample below.

Statusing Page 

When a Status date is set on the Gantt the Statusing page is populated. Task Type field is only displayed at the 1st level after TASK. The field is not editable but can be used in filtering. 

Copy Functionality  

Task Type is included in the existing copy functionality (excluding Import Tasks from Excel). 

  • On creating a project using a Template, the Task Type values from the individuals Tasks are copied over. 

  • On the Gantt, clicking ADD or right clicking a task to copy, the Task Type values from the individuals Tasks are copied over. Actions below are included in the copy functionality. 

 

 


Fiscal Calendars – Support Non January Start of Year 

Overview 

Fiscal calendars have been expanded to work with non-traditional Jan – Dec yearly parameters. Customers can select the start month of the Fiscal Calendar, and the date will display in resource demand and forecasting. Customers need to provide data for several years prior to implementation date to ensure correct periods are displayed 

Updates 

Admin setting for start month selection 

On the Fiscal Calendar page, a settings/cog icon is available for the admin user to set the start month of the fiscal year. This Fiscal Period will update accordingly. 

 

  

The example below uses the following data 

 

 

A Project with a Task spanning the 144 days is created, which crosses fiscal years. 

 

Resource Allocation 

On adding a skill for 144 and pushing to resource allocation the labels of the periods are as per the fiscal calendar (Aug 2024 – Feb 2025). 

      

Project Forecasting 

Under Admin | Financials | Configuration the fiscal periods will roll over as per the fiscal calendar. 

 

On loading from schedule on the Forecasting page, the labels of the periods are as per the fiscal calendar (Aug 2024 – Feb 2025). Rate of $50 against the skill. 

 

Distribution Curves 

On the Task manager when changing from Linear to Custom distribution, the periods will be as per the fiscal calendar, initially spreading the demand equally across all periods. 

 

Insights 

The labels on the Insights pages (Portfolio, Project & Resources) display as per the fiscal calendar.

Data Analytics and AI

Timesheet Status Report – Report Missing Timesheets in Current Period 

Description of Change  

Previously, when running the Timesheet Status Report for missing timesheets, the current period was ignored.   

This was originally designed on the basis that a timesheet was not missing until it was overdue.  However, this left a gap because customers had no way to report on users who had yet to complete this period’s timesheet, i.e. they could not run the report on a Friday evening but had to wait until the following Monday.  Based on customer feedback, we have now updated the report to include missing timesheets in the current period. 

Surface Used in Data for Dropdowns  

Description of Change  

A new column called Used In has been added to the Dropdown administration screen to make it easier for users to understand where in the system a dropdown list is being used. 

 


Include/Exclude non-Timesheet Users from System Report 

Overview  

With the addition of the Timesheet user checkbox on the user profile, this attribute can be used on systems reports to exclude non timesheet users and reduce the size of the report output. 

Report Updates 

On the control screen of the ‘Time Sheet’ and ‘Time Sheet Status’ reports, a new filter field is available called ‘Include Non-Timesheet Users’. The new field will be displayed below the Include Inactive Users: checkbox. This can be used to prefilter the User/Group Lists and to reduce the number of records returned on the report outputs. 

  

  

 


Registers Parent Child Relationships Workflow and Variables  

Description of Change  

Enhancements have been made to registers in the following areas: 

Calculated Fields – Access to Parent Register Values 

If a register is configured as a child register, then when creating calculated fields, administrators can now reference values from the parent record.

In the above example, the register calculated field will display the description from the parent record. 

Workflow Variables – Access to Parent Register Fields 

Similarly to using parent values in calculated fields (above), workflow variables can now reference an attribute of the parent register record.

Above, a variable has been created that will hold the item type of the parent record.   This variable can then be used to branch the workflow depending on the type.  For example, if the workflow was running on an action register that was a child of a risks and opportunities register, the workflow could take different actions depending on whether the action was a child of a risk or the child of an opportunity. 

Linked Register Aggregate Field 

A calculated field of type linked register aggregate is used to aggregate a value from other register entries linked to the current item.  When defining a field of this type, you can now choose which linked records to include in the aggregation:

All linked items will aggregate the values from all items linked to the register entry regardless of whether they are linked as related items or child items 

Child items only will aggregate the values from only items linked as children 

Related items only will aggregate only the values form items linked as related and not as children 

All Items will aggregate the values from all the records in the register on the same project even if they are not linked to the item 

Register Workflow Approvals – Bulk Approve Multiple Items 

In the grid of register items, multiple items can now be approved or rejected at the same time without having to open each entry and approve it individually.

When you select several items, as above, if all of the items are awaiting your approval, the approve and reject buttons will be enabled in the command bar of the grid. This allows you to quickly approve (or reject) a number of items all in one go. If you select a group of items and one or more of those items are not awaiting your approval, the buttons will be disabled and tool tipped with the reason. 


Cascading Dropdowns Structure 

1.1 Purpose 

This document provides administrators with a comprehensive guide to configure and manage the Cascading Dropdowns feature in Cora. It includes setup instructions, feature specifications, and example use cases. 

1.2 Background 

The Cascading Dropdown feature enhances dropdown list functionalities by introducing cascading logic across selections, creating a streamlined, contextual user experience. 

  • Primary Goal: To provide logical selection pathways in dropdown lists, maintaining visibility rules across various instances of dropdown lists.

3.1 Creating a Cascading Dropdown Structure 

  1. Navigate to: Admin → Smartforms → Cascading Dropdowns. 

  1. Create Structure: Click Add and enter the List Name. 

  1. Save: Click Save to create the list. 

  1. Open Structure: Select the list hyperlink to modify it. 

3.2 Adding Dropdown Levels 

  1. Add Levels: Within the list structure, click Add to add levels. 

  1. Hierarchy Creation: Create multiple levels as required; save after adding. 

  1. Export Structure: To export for relationship setup, select Hierarchy Export. 

 

3.3 Importing and Exporting Cascading Dropdowns 

  1. Modify in Excel: Edit the exported file in Excel to define relationships. 

  1. Import: Click Import Hierarchy and select the edited file. 

3.3.2 Export for Review 

3.4 Notes: 

· You can only use existing dropdown lists and dropdown list values 

· You can’t edit a Cascading dropdown list. You will need to create a new Cascading Dropdown List with the updates 

· In cascading dropdowns, each child option can only have one parent, reflecting a 1:1 relationship. For example, consider cities like Columbus, Ohio, and Columbus, Georgia. Although both share the name "Columbus," their respective parent dropdowns—states like Ohio and Georgia—uniquely define their context. This ensures that each child (Columbus) is distinctly tied to only one parent (state), preventing ambiguity and maintaining logical consistency within the dropdown hierarchy. 


Cascading Dropdowns in Smart Forms 

1.1 Admin Configuration 

1.1.1 Setup Cascading Dropdowns in Smartforms - Lowest Level as a Dropdown List  

  • Add Field: Add a new Smartform field of type Dropdown List. 

  • Cascading List Setup: Enable Is a Cascading Dropdown List, select the relevant list. 

  • Display Options: Choose display preferences for dropdown values. 

1.1.2 Setup Cascading Dropdowns in Smartforms 

  • Add Field: Add a new Smartform field of type Dropdown List Function. 

  • Select Parent List: Choose a Dropdown List for your Parent or Grandparent Cascading Dropdown. 

  • Create Formula: Set up a formula where the child variable equals: 

  • Parent = P1 

  • Grandparent = P2 

  • Great Grandparent = P3, and so forth. 

  • Display in Dropdown: This will show the Dropdown List values from the cascading list on your Smartform page. 

  • Example Setup: 

  • Country - Ireland 

  • Sub Region - Northern Europe 

  • Region - Europe 

  • Supported Features: Works with Visible, Allow Changes, Calculated Field, and Workflow options. 

  • Note: Use this setup to display hierarchical relationships such as Parents and Grandparents on Smartforms. 

1.2 Front-End Functionality 

  • Hierarchical Search: For your Cascading Dropdown field, select the "Search via Hierarchy" option. 

  • Popout Modal: This will open a modal that allows users to select values within the Cascading Dropdown structure using "Search via Hierarchy." 

  • Value Selection: Users can choose each level of the hierarchy, such as Parent and Grandparent values, directly from the Cascading Dropdown structure. 

  • Display Saved Values: Once saved, the selected Parent and Grandparent values will appear (assuming they have been set up as Dropdown List functions in the Smartform). 

 

Cascading Dropdowns in Registers 

1.1.1 Setup Cascading Dropdowns in Register 

  • Add Field: Add a new Register field of type Single Select Custom List. 

  • Enable Cascading Dropdown: Check "Is a Cascading Dropdown List." 

  • Select Cascading List: Choose the appropriate Cascading Dropdown List. 

  • Choose Displayed Dropdown: Select the specific dropdown list to be displayed. 

  • Display in Register: This will show the dropdown values from your Cascading Dropdown list in the Register. 

  • Supported Features: Compatible with Visible, Allow Changes, Calculated Field, and Workflow options. 

1.1.2 Setup Cascading Dropdowns in Register - Calculated Fields 

  • Add Field: Add a new Register field of type Calculated Field. 

  • Set Calculated Type: Choose "Custom List" for Calculated Type. 

  • Select Custom Source: Choose the level of the Cascading Dropdown you want to display. 

  • Create Formula: Build a formula using Register fields, with available Parent and Grandparent levels: 

  • Parent = P1 

  • Grandparent = P2 

  • Great Grandparent = P3, etc. 

  • Display in Register: This setup will display the selected levels from your Cascading Dropdown in the Register. 

  • Supported Features: Works with Visible, Allow Changes, Calculated Field, and Workflow options. 

  • Note: Use this method to display hierarchical relationships, such as Parents and Grandparents, on Registers. 

1.2 Cascading Dropdowns in Registers 

  • Hierarchical Search: For your Cascading Dropdown field, select "Search via Hierarchy."

7.1 User Custom Attributes Add Cascading Dropdowns - Type Selection 

  • Add New Entry: Select "Add" and choose "Cascading Dropdowns" under Type. 

  • Select Dropdown: At the bottom of the page, choose the specific Cascading Dropdown you want to use. 

7.2 Users - User Attributes 

  • Navigate to User Profile: Go to Admin > Resources > Users, then select a user profile. 

  • Access User Attributes: In the user’s profile, go to "User Attributes." 

  • Use Cascading Dropdowns: The Cascading Dropdown field is available within User Attributes. 

  • Search Options: Admins can search for values directly or use the hierarchical search within the Cascading Dropdown field. 

  

User Custom Attributes - Future Releases

Surface Used in Data for Custom Roles 

Description of Change  

A new column called Used In has been added to the Custom Roles administration screen to make it easier for users to understand where in the system a custom role is being used.

8.1 Cascading Dropdowns in Gantt Custom Fields 

  • Navigation: Admin → System → Task Configuration → Custom Fields. 

  • Setup: Choose Type = Cascading Dropdown. 

8.2 Cascading Dropdowns in Custom Fields on Gantt  

  • Navigate to Gantt  

  • Add the Custom Field containing the Cascading Dropdown  

  • This will only appear on as a single select dropdown list

Registers – Displaying ID in the Modal 

Description of Change  

Previously, the record ID for registers was displayed as the first field in the add/edit modal for registers. 

This took up space but also meant that as the user scrolled down the page, the id was no longer visible.  

The ID is now displayed in the header of the modal along with the item description.  This means that when viewing or editing register records, the user can always see the id and description of the item they are editing. 

   

Notes:

The description displayed in the header is always the system field for description.  This field can be re-named but is always mandatory on all register items.  

When adding a record, the id and description will be shown in the header after the first successful save of the record. 

If the register is configured with ‘Hide System ID’ checked, then the unique project level id for the record is displayed instead of the system id. 


Ability to have Single Select User Dropdown in Registers 

Description of Change  

A new field type of Single Select User Role is now available in registers. 

  

Similar to a user list field, this field allows users to choose from a list of users but that list of users will be limited to only those users with a specific role. 

In addition to choosing the role, you can also configure whether the list presented to the user will include resource only users.  You can also choose to limit the users displayed to users who not only have the role but also have access to the project.  This is useful when using a register field to direct a workflow approval as you can route the approval to a specific role but not to users who have no access to the project. 

Advanced Financials 

Addition of Cascading Dropdowns in Rate Matrix 

1.1 Cascading Dropdowns in Rate Matrix 

  • Select Attribute: You can now choose Cascading Dropdowns as an attribute within the Rate Matrix. 

  • Add/Edit Rate Matrix: This allows you to add or edit Rate Matrix versions to display the cascading dropdown. 

  • Applicable Areas: Can be used within: 

  • Skills 

  • Users 

  • Facilities 

  • Materials 

1.2 Project Properties - Rate Matrix 

  • Navigate to Rate Matrix: Go to Project Properties and select "Rate Matrix." 

  • Choose Settings: Select the following options: 

  • Rate Matrix 

  • Rate Matrix Version 

  • Select Attribute: Choose an attribute—Cascading Dropdowns can be used as an attribute here. 

1.3 Gantt - Select a Task - Planned Resources 

  • Edit Planned Resources: Select "Edit" under Planned Resources. 

  • Add Resource: Choose "Add" to include a new resource. 

  • Use Cascading Dropdowns: Cascading Dropdowns are now available as a dropdown list within Planned Resources. 

  • Applicable Areas: Can be used within: 

  • Labour Demand (Skills) 

  • Users 

  • Facilities 

  • Materials 

 

Registers Linked to Advanced Financials 

The Linked Register Aggregate field type allows the aggregation of child register record data on a parent register record based on the parent-child links.  This Linked Register Aggregate field type definition consists of six elements for field configuration within a Project Register under the Administration – Configuration in Cora PPM. 

 

Register and Register Column define the child register and column/field to aggregate. 

Function identifies the aggregate function (Sum, Avg, Min, or Max) for computation. 

Date delineates which of the child register date fields shall be used for partitioning the data.  

Include defines the types of register items to include - Linked Items: All, Child, or Related types or All Items regardless of linkage (shown in the dropdown image to the right).  

Status determines child register records/items will be included in the calculation based on register status. 

Timephased designates if the aggregate data is partitioned and stored by period. 

Date establishes the register date column to use for Timephasing records by period. 

 

Used in Financials 

Checking the Used in Financials field attribute checkbox enables data to flow from Register fields (Numeric, Calculated Field, or Linked Register Aggregate types) to the Advanced Financials (aka Forecasting) screen and underlying data structures.  Configuration of the Used in Financials register field functionality includes definition of the following: 

Category: Cost, Revenue, or Billings 

Data Type: Actuals Only, Forecast Only, Actuals & Forecast 

Segment: A listing of the Segment columns for a particular Cora PPM configuration. 

  

  

When a field is designated as Used in Financials a green check appears in the Used in Financials column on the Project Register edit grid. 

 

 

In the example below, the Total Cost column leverages the Linked Register Aggregate field configuration with Child Items Only links and the Timephased checkbox to return the total cost related to each Parent Register Record segmented by month in a string aggregate format. 

 

The Timephased configuration would be most helpful when used to supplement monthly project data (such as incorporating the cost of unmitigated risk as a monthly projection) within the center Forecast panel of the Project Forecasting screen. 

On the Project Forecasting screen clicking Load from Registers pulls the register aggregate values designated as Used in Financials for a given project. The register total values and register aggregate values (upon expansion) appear under the Register Billings, Register Revenue, or Register Cost categories on the Forecasting sheet. Only the Category headings, where used in financials data exists for a project, will appear under the Cost Category section of Project Forecasting. If no data exists for a project, then a “No register data found” informational toast message will be displayed in the upper right section of your browser window. 

 

 

Financial Management Widget: Amend Display of Cumulative Graph 

Description of Change 

The Financial Management Widget has been enhanced so that users can configure how data is plotted on the cumulative graph.  

The following changes have been made to the Settings modal on the Widget: 

  • The existing checkbox labelled “Do not plot cumulative actuals in the future” has been removed 

  • The grid on the Graph Option tab has been extended to include a new column labelled “Cumulative Plot Option” 

 

 

Cost Book: New Column ‘ Remaining Budget’  

Description of Change 

A new column called Remaining Budget has been added to the Cost Book right hand panel. 

This column will need to be made available for selection on the Cost Book via the Administration | Financials | Codes | Cost Book Columns Admin screen 

The newly added column is also accessible via the Cost Book Attributes and on the Cost Book Portfolio report. 

This column will display values as per the following logic: 

Control Budget - Actuals - Remaining Commitment. 

Calculations are performed at the Cost Book Line level and are aggregated across all hierarchical levels. 

Values will dynamically update based on any changes to the Control Budget, Actuals, or Remaining Commitment values. 

Users can enable or disable this column via the Settings modal within the Cost Book. 

 

Pre Calculate the Baseline Rate Matrix Data  

Description of Change  

This Feature added functionality to calculate and store time phased data for Planned Resources. This data is then captured within a baseline at the point the baseline is taken. 

 

Amendment to Costbook Distribution Curves Logic 

Description of Change 

The Cost Book Distribution Curve logic has now been enhanced to take into account the current position on the distribution curve selected per Cost Book Line, as well as the full duration of the period associated with a Cost Book Line.  

This is to ensure that forecasted values accurately reflect the current stage of the project and that remaining costs are proportionally distributed for future months. 

Additionally, values in the “Delta EAC Vs Actuals+Remaining Forecasted” column will now be highlighted in red when > 1 and < -1 to highlight any discrepancies between the Delta EAC and “Actuals+Remaining Forecasted” values. 

 

This change is only relevant to Cost Book users. 


Financial Management Widget: CapEx / OpEx Filtering 

Description of Change 

The Financial Management Widget has been enhanced to include CapEx and OpEx filtering options allowing users to easily differentiate between capital and operational expenditure on their graph and grid.  

The following new radio buttons will be available on the Settings modal when “By Account Code” is selected under the Detail Display section. 

 

When a user selects the "CapEx" filter, the widget will only display data related to Account Codes that are configured as CapEx account codes. 

When a user selects the "OpEx" filter, the widget will only display data related to Account Codes that are configured as OpEx account codes. 

Workforce Planning 

Resource Demand – Support Hours and Days as Working Units 

Overview 

Previously all resource demand was in FTE (full time equivalents).  This enhancement enables data to be entered and viewed in hours or days as well. One working unit (FTE/Days/Hours) will be set at a project level and cannot changed once demand data is captured. All demand and resource allocation will be entered in the working unit. Then values may be viewed in the other units. 

 

Admin Settings 

Under Administration | Configuration | Capacity Management there is a drop-down selector labelled 'Default resourcing units' 

Dropdown contains three options - FTE, Days and Hours 

Dropdown is mandatory and default is FTE 

 

  

Project Properties 

The Resource Units attribute is displayed on the project properties page. It will default to match the admins. Once any demand exists on a project, the demand units for that project cannot be changed except by deleting all demand and starting again 

 

  

Resource Demand/Allocation Pages 

On the demand screens, data can only be edited when the Unit of Measure matches that set on the project properties. The ellipses are displayed to allow updates. 

 

 When changed to any of the other options, the data is read only, and the ellipses is removed. 

 

 

Resource Demand – Allocate to Task Modal 

Overview 

Once a demand request has been approved, on the Allocate to Task modal, only Task(s) linked to the approved demand requests are listed.Allocate to Task Modal Example3 tasks are created on the Gantt with different variations of skill demand for a Project Manager.        resource has been added and approved for the skill request from the 1st task

Resource Demand – UX Improvements 

Overview 

A number of improvements have been made to the Resource Allocation screen making it more intuitive and user friendly. 

 

Display Gap Values 

On the Resource Allocation page menu bar, a new dropdown is displayed called Demand figures

  1. If Gap is selected the grid displays Demand / Gap figures.

Overview 

For customer using >12 periods in the fiscal calendars, the Resources Widget filtering has been updated to reflect the Fiscal Weeks dates. 

Note: Updates are displayed when 'Use Fiscal Calendar for Periods' checkbox under Admin | Config | Financials is selected

On the Resources widget control section, Last Week, This Week and Next Week are displayed in the Date Range: dropdown list showing the dates from the fiscal calendar. 

 

Resource Changes – User Attributes and Skill Requests  

Description of Change  

Custom User Attributes can now be defined for users. 

Attributes are defined by Administrators under Administration | Resources | User Custom Attributes. 

Once attributes are defined, a new tab is displayed when adding or editing a user labelled ‘User Attributes. 

User custom attributes allow you to set additional, custom attributes for a user such as Country or Department.  These attributes can then be used to refine resource demand requests and/or find the most suitable users to assign to a resource request.  Previously, for example, if you needed to request a particular skill in a particular location you would have needed to configure multiple skills, “Business Analyst France”, “Business Analyst USA” etc.  Now you can define a custom user attribute of Country and then you only need one Business Analyst skill and can refine your request with the Country attribute. 

Custom user attributes are intended to be used in conjunction with the new Resource Allocation page.  They are not fully compatible with the Resource Demand page. 

Custom user attributes can also be used to filter the Resource Insights pages.

Tie Status Date to Month End  

Overview 

When Statusing is in use the Status Date selector on Gantt is updated to a dropdown list of Fiscal or Calendar month ends. This provides for more accurate Statusing updates. 

Statusing is enable in use when the value in Admin | System | Project -> ‘Effort - choose if this is based on total effort or remaining effort’ is set to ETC - Remaining Effort. 

Gantt Updates  

When ‘Enable Fiscal Calendar’ is selected under Admin | System | Project. 

 

On the Gantt when the user clicks on the Statusing icon, the dates displayed match the end dates from the Fiscal Calendar. 

 

When ‘Enable Fiscal Calendar’ is not selected under Admin | System | Project, the dates displayed match the end dates from the Gregorian Calendar.

Statusing Distribute ETC From Status Date  

Overview 

When Statusing is turned on in an environment all effort prior to the Status Date is removed from Planned Effort. Only the effort from the day after the Status Date remains. 

Task Updates  

Prior to this development when the Status was set on a project and the effort or cost was subsequently updated on a task, Cora automatically updates the Distribution Curve to Custom. 

With this development Cora no longer updates the Distribution Curve to Custom. 

 

Modify Rate Matrix so that a baseline can be taken 

Description of Change  

This feature extends the baseline functionality. When a baseline is taken Cora now includes details of the Rate Matric values in use on the project at the time the baseline was taken. 

This supports audit requirements 


Alternative Hierarchy Pivot 

Description of Change: 

This feature introduces expanded functionality for Cora Register reporting and dashboards, enabling the utilization of new Alternative Hierarchy type. This enhancement provides greater complexity and flexibility in reporting and visualization across multiple levels of project data. 

Key updates include the ability to visualize and filter attributes within Alternative Hierarchy registers based on their relationships to tasks at the project level. 

Notes: 

  • This functionality aligns with Cora's vision for enhanced project hierarchy management and reporting. 

  • The work completed in Q4 has laid the critical groundwork, establishing the foundational elements needed to support this functionality. While the current iteration provides substantial value, its true potential will be realized through the planned work in future releases.

This will prompt you for a file.  On successful import, close the modal and the values will be added to the list of values for the dropdown.

  • Column header should be ‘Description’ 

  • You can only add new entries via this import, you cannot edit or delete existing entries
