Skills Demand

Modified on Thu, 28 Nov, 2024 at 10:14 AM

At this stage you are not requesting specific people for your project, just the Skills (what type of people you need) and when you expect to need them.

When you first open the Skills tab, it will look like this:

n order to edit the skills page, the user must be a Project Owner.

To get started, click Edit Mode.

You now have access to create a demand profile using Skills.

Add New Skill

In the example below, we have selected UI Designer

  • Click ADD.

A new line is added to the grid for the Skill you selected.

  • Enter the resource demand for each month in the Dmd row. Demand is entered in Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs).

You can add between 0.01, or 1 and more, for each particular skill demand.

You can continue adding rows for each Skill you need.

Note: The cells you change turn yellow.  This indicates that you have unsaved changes.

  • Click Save to update the demand requirement.

Your demand request has now been saved.

Searching for Resources with Relevant Skills

To search for resources with the relevant skill you can filter using the “Skills” dropdown to find the resources with that correct skill.

Select the first Skill you need on your project by clicking on the drop-down icon  and selecting from the list.

Any skill that is highlighted green in the drop-down list has already had a skills demand profile created for the project.

  • In this example, the ‘UI Designer’ has already been selected.
  • In this example the Software testing has an existing skills demand profile created.

Resourcing Department

The Resourcing Department filter can be set to show one, several or all departments that have been configured to contain resources.

In our example we have checked all the departments available to view all UI Designer skills on the system.

Click Go resets the list to filter out everyone who does not have the UI Designer skill.

The systems also colour codes these resources based on their current availability to work on this project, sorted from most available to least available.

At this point depending on your Resource Management process the Project Manager can add a comment and trigger an email notification to the Resource Manager(s) to alert them to the fact that a demand profile has been created on the project and requires their review.

Add Comment/Trigger email

The comments feature is designed to allow the Project Manager and Resource Manager to exchange information about the resourcing of the project.

Comments can be emailed providing a two-way alerting process on changes to the resource demand and allocation.

You can add comments about resourcing from either the History tab or the Skills tab.

  • Click Add Comment.

Simply enter a comment relevant to resourcing and select one or more recipients.

You can email the comment to any user who is a resource manager for the project(s) or who is a Project Owner.

Selected recipients will receive an email with the subject 'Cora PPM Resource Demand: new comment added'.

This email contains a link back to the Resource Demand page of the Project.

All comments are recorded in the history.
