In this section we will describe some useful widgets on the Portfolio Dashboard.
Project Matrix Widget
The Projects Matrix widget allows two attributes to be compared in a grid.
The attribute for each axis can be selected in widget settings.
The axis may be set to a drop-down value (stage, status or a custom field) or to a numeric value (budget for example).
At the top right of the Widget you will see
Click on the cog to open the “Project Matrix Settings” pane.
Click the icon to expand to full screen.
Click into the X Axis Attribute box and select the criteria for the X axis on the graph. In the following example we are selecting Project Stage.
Values
Add in the Values you want to view. You can select individual options or select all options by clicking the double chevron icon . In the following example we have selected all options.
Y Axis Attribute
Click into the Y Axis Attribute box and select the criteria for the X axis on the graph. In the following example we are selecting Project Status.
Values
Add in the Values you want to view. You can select individual options by clicking the single chevron or select all the options by clicking on the double chevron icon . In the following example we have selected three individual options.
Abbreviated Chart Axes and Abbreviated Values
Depending on the volume of records and the monetary values associated with them, numbers in the tens of thousands or millions may need to be displayed in widgets. These numbers can be difficult to read and interpret so there is an option to abbreviate large numbers.
The default is set for all users in their user profile:
When you complete your selection of options click SAVE.
In the example below, the matrix has been configured to show Status on the X axis and Stage on the Y axis.
This shows you all of the projects by status and by stage in a single view and it gives you a total scoring.
It is now easy to see that there are two projects “On hold” that are red.
Clicking any of the cells in the matrix will expand the widget and show just the projects in that cell.
The Graph shows the number of projects with a status of red that are at an on-hold status. The Grid at the bottom of the screen shows each project.
If a numeric attribute is selected, the ranges for each cell can be configured.
Similar to all Widgets, it can be expanded to provide insights as to the data being used to populate the Graph.
Clicking on a panel in the Graph allows you to drill down to a filtered view on the grid.
You can export the content of the graph and grid by choosing the export option.
